Parent-Child Silk Marbling
Workshop with Teaching Rachel MacKenna,
For Parent-and-Child (ages 6+) Teams
Welcome to the world of floating color! Learn to paint swirling patterns you can permanently capture on fabric and paper. In this class, you navigate traditional marbling techniques from a free-form approach to a more technical “zebra” pattern. Following a demonstration of the design process and an introduction of both silk and paper options, students work in pairs at their print stations.
Each parent-student pair is provided with different textures of high-quality archival paper to practice on and two 11x11" silk handkerchiefs for final designs. Instructions will be sent home with the finished artworks on silk care for washing and ideas for incorporating your marbled paper into future projects.
No experience is necessary, and all supplies are provided.

Learn to paint swirling patterns you can permanently capture on fabric and paper. An ideal parent-child experience (for kids age 6+), collaboration is encouraged in this class and participants work together to build their images. No experience is necessary, and all supplies are provided.
Dates: Saturday, August 8, 3–5pm
Location: Class meets at Willard Art & Frame
Tuition: $70 (+ tax) for one parent and one child ($35 per student)
Class size is limited to 10 students (five parents and five children age six and over) to ensure individualized attention and a focused learning environment.
