Weekend Workshop
Aquatic Landscapes in Pastel

With Teaching Artist Jane Gonzalez

Dive into the vibrant, fluid world of soft pastels with our upcoming workshop, Aquatic Landscapes in Pastel. Popular local teaching artist Jane Gonzalez, known for her mastery of light and color, guides you through creating atmospheric, painterly effects as you capture the fluid beauty of water in a focused, small-group setting.

Whether you are drawn to the rhythmic crash of ocean waves, the glassy surface of a mountain lake, or the dappled light of a lily pond, you learn to capture water’s ephemeral beauty with rich, vibrant pigments.

Designed for beginners seeking personalized guidance and intermediate painters looking to elevate their technique, you leave this focused creative experience with at least one completed study, as well as the new skills and confidence to continue your artistic journey.

Held in our intimate studio setting, Jane offers you an opportunity for direct, one-on-one mentorship as you explore layering, blending and texture, and tailored advice to help you refine your composition and color palette.

  • Focus on Water: Discover how to paint reflections, transparency, and motion through layered pastel application and dynamic mark-making.

  • Color & Light: Learn to observe and interpret the landscape, using color relationships and atmospheric effects to make your paintings glow.

  • Technique Demos: Jane provides daily, in-depth demonstrations, covering underpainting techniques. Watch as Jane demonstrates how to build watery depths and reflective highlights.
