Young artists travel back in time this summer to explore a variety of early art techniques, including the development of illuminated writing, glass art, sculpting and carving. Local teaching artist Athena Louscher guides students in learning about ancient art from around the world and creating a project each day based on the week's theme.
Camp sessions include breaks and unstructured creative time for students, with instructor assistance, and materials are provided. At the end of each week-long session, an in-person or online show celebrates all of the amazing student art created that week.

Meet Your Instructor, Teaching Artist Athena Louscher
I studied art history and mixed media at Cascadia Community College, graduating in 2010. I continued on to graduate in 2013 from Cornish College of the Arts with quadruple focus in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking. I also have experience in altered books and book making.
I have several pieces in private collections around the country and a couple of public works projects.
I create and teach in a variety of techniques for each of my disciplines. My lessons are designed to give my students a comprehensive understanding of art and how it has evolved over time.
My works are subject to the flow of life and it’s ever present chaos that brings beauty, awareness, history, and community out of everything I make.
